Happy National Country Music Day! Happy 4th of July! Happy Birthday America!!!! I couldn’t have picked a better alternative holiday to celebrate this day. Country music screams America! More like ‘Merica! Country music is my go to for 4th of July… hell for any day really.
Apparently this holiday goes back to the 1950’s, where a country music DJ association wanted to celebrate the life of country legend Jimmie Rodgers and all of country music. So, due to the fact that today is Independence day and a day all about America and all that comes with it, I think it fitting to recognize some pretty awesome patriotic country songs. Mainly essential for the 4th of July barbecue.
Everyday America- Sugarland
Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagles Fly- Aaron Tippin
Home- Dierks Bentley
It’s America- Rodney Atkins
American Honey- Lady Antebellum
Only In America- Brooks N Dunn
America- Waylon Jennings
Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue- Toby Keith
American Soldier- Toby Keith
American Ride- Toby Keith
Made in America- Toby Keith
Actually, most likely every single song by Toby Keith will do.
Then of course the classic God Bless the U.S.A by Lee Greenwood. I always get excited whenever I randomly hear it on the radio. I’m that person who is like “and I’d gladly stand up……. (mini drum solo)…. NEXT TO YOU!” A new found ‘Merica favorite is by Billy Ray Cyrus “I’m American”. Hahaha it’s such a ridiculous song ’cause you can barely understand what he is saying but it is a badass song.
There’s plenty of other patriotic country songs, but there are also other songs that is american country. Like “Country Boy’s World” and “Fly Over States” by Jason Aldean… but the list is endless.
Probably the best place to be on the 4th of July, and I was lucky enough to go, is Nashville. We were able to watch some of the best fireworks ever! Check it out here
