July 28th: National Milk Chocolate Day

Happy Milk Chocolate Day!!! Mmmmm milk chocolate… is there any other kind of chocolate? Lol Milk Chocolate is probably the most used and common chocolate in the world. It wasn’t manufactured commercially until 1876 by Swiss confectioner, Daniel Peter and also the Nestle company. That was the start of the phenomenon of the amazingly sweet and delicious milk chocolate. Milk chocolate is the combination of condensed or dry milk with cocoa powder.

Milk chocolate is literally in just about every candy bar we consume.

When you eat chocolate, endorphins are released and you feel good. Now milk chocolate doesn’t give off as many endorphins as dark chocolate, but still I would take taste over feelings… but that’s just me. So this explains why whenever someone is depressed or sad they eat chocolate! (or ice cream… better yet, chocolate ice cream)

Chocolate comes from a bean off the Theobroma Cacao tree. It takes 6 months to harvest, meaning that it only harvests twice a year. To create cocoa powder from the pods, the beans go through 6 different processes: fermentation, drying, winnowing, roasting, grinding, and pressing. Winnowing is the process of separating the shell from the actual pieces used for making the chocolate, called nibs.

After reading a bit of the processing of chocolate, it is pretty awesome.  But some of the most popular chocolate brands in the market here int he US are: Hershey’s, Lindt, Dove, Ferrero Rocher, Cadbury, Godiva, and Ghirardelli.

Like stated before, milk chocolate is basically everything today lol. So I can’t even put up some recipes because that would be an endless list!!!!

When it comes to eating chocolate though… I either suck on it until it dissolves, or gnaw on it… or do this…

So grab anything that is made of milk chocolate (candy, baked goods, fudge, ice cream, left over Halloween candy… although that might be a mistake) today and get some feel goods goin’!!!!

Maybe do this…
